Sparkplug (2009) 3'

For three flutes.

Premiered at the Salle Cortot in Paris, France, 7/17/09. Self-published (Morningside Press, ASCAP).

Sparkplug is a driving, energetic piece that uses the flutes as a shimmering rhythm machine. Over the course of its brief arch form, it whirls through many different modes and textures. All the while, the flute players are passing musical material around the room to one another, exchanging parts, almost as if they are panning the contrapuntal material back and forth.
